Expectations and High School Attendance Policy:
Art Room Rules and Expectations Arrive to class on time Participate and use class time wisely This means working on project work within a center. You will cooperatively design a learning plan with the teacher. In this learning plan you will layout what kind of media and content you would like to explore for the semester. Respect Peers, Teacher(s), Artwork, and Materials in the Art Room Centers are set up for those materials only. If you can not respect the materials the center will close. This means if you are working on a project within that particular center your project will go on hold and you will have to start something new. No Exceptions! No Food or Drink I will impose a fine for the person caught “dirtying” my classroom. If the person is not caught I will close the center where the garbage is found for one week. If I can not pinpoint which hour was at fault, ALL hours will be affected! If it is habitual the center will close permanently. No Running or Rough Housing No sitting on, drawing on, or defacing of tables (you will be fined for the cost of repair!) Meet Deadlines and Due Dates Because the implementation of centers will be included due dates will be worked individually with each student. You will be expected to complete 2-3 large projects per quarter! Use Appropriate Language Language that becomes a problem will be fined and added to your check out fees! Money will be donated to the ART Club. Remain in classroom during scheduled time If you need to be excused from class please arrange with teacher prior to that class/day. Making up time will be strictly your responsibility. Remember to sign the binder to earn your class time for participation points! Use restroom and be prepared when you arrive, I WILL NOT WRITE YOU A PASS! Do not use cell phones, class room phone, teacher computer, or rummage through teacher’s desk. I will confiscate your cell phone if I see it! Stay out of back room or supply cabinets (Ask FIRST!) Do NOT remove materials from room without permission

Use collage to create art. 12. Model and construct pinch pots using clay. 2nd Grade 1. Students will be able to identify shape and create objects relating shape to its size and parts. 2. Use art to relate to everyday experience and interaction with other people. 3. Use paper with its 3 dimensional quality. 4. View jewelry and create jewelry in its relation to body adornment. 5. Use printmaking materials to create texture prints. 6. Combine painting and printmaking techniques. 7. Look at color and its properties in art. 8. Paint using different techniques. 9. Create 3 dimensional art using recyclable materials. 10. Explore paper weaving. 11. Introduce complimentary colors. 12. Review and create art related to other cultures. 13. Look at artists their work relates to the elements of design. 14. Discuss foreground, middle ground, and background. 15. Use clay as a three dimensional material. 3rd Grade 1. Create texture using different lines. 2. Produce art that shows feeling and expression. 3. Look at nature and create designs using texture we see. 4. Know what a cool color and a warm color is. 5. Practice overlap by showing foreground, middleground, and background. 6. Use other materials and techniques for drawing. (such as craypas, charcoal, crayon, marker, and pastels.) 7. Use pattern to create a picture. 8. Create a balanced design using repetition of line and shape. 9. Paint on surfaces other than paper. 10. Use clay to create sculpture. 11. Paint using colors and balance to create mood and feeling. 12. Relate art to other areas such as music and writing. 13. Draw the human figure using correct proportions. 4th Grade 1. Look at color and know what a primary, secondary, and complimentary color is. 2. Draw landscapes showing a horizon line with correct use of scale and space. 3. Create functional pottery using clay. 4. Discuss the meaning of an artwork. 5. Look at multi-cultural art and its importance. 6. Produce a 3-dimensional piece by cutting and pasting construction paper. 7. Draw animals from real life (parrot.) 8. Learn how to reverse block printing. 9. Learn weaving with design or fiber. 10. Learn to work with groups or in cooperative situations. 11. Use technology to interpet and create art. 12. Use a variety of painting techniques. 5th Grade 1. Review 1 point perspective and how to draw forms that use a vanishing point. 2. Draw self-portrait. 3. Analyze and discuss artistic styles and work. 4. Create a design using the influence of art movements and styles. 5. Know how to blend color to create tints and shades. 6. Use clay to create decorative ceramics. 7. Combine visual arts with other fine arts such as music, writing, dance, and/or drama. 8. Demonstrate a design using something as basic as a name. 9. Demonstrate texture in subject matter. 10. Look at other artists to analyze the use of art elements. 11. Use computer aided software to create art. 6th Grade 1. Understand 1 point perspective and how to draw shapes with multiple sides. 2. Use 1 point perspective to create a drawing which includes a building (s.) 3. Apply the elements of art in their own work and discussion. 4. Use continuous line to create rhythm. 5. Combine sculpture with other media to create pieces of art work. 6. Know how to construct a collograph print. 7. Create 3 dimensional art using a variety of materials such as paper mache' or plaster. 8. Look at cartoons and plan a short comic strip. 9. Understand importance of art elements in visual images as well as what makes images successful. 2. Develop skills in Adobe PhotoShop 3. Construct graphic images using art elements and principles 4. Communicate messages, expression, and emotion using computer graphics 5. Use digital Photography within their graphic images. 6. Analyze and study computer art created by other artists or peers. 7. Appreciate the use of technology in Art. 8. Create a web page using animated gifs, graphic images, and typography. 9. Explore a variety of ways to enhance, manipulate, and modify graphics using technology. 10. Recognize the importance technology has on the impact of graphic arts. 11. Use graphic art principles to create commercial quality designs.
