Lena High School-Alternative Program
The Lena High School Alternative Program was established to meet the needs of students who are struggling to be successful in the traditional high school setting.
The program specifically targets students who are credit deficient, have attendance issues, and who are working extended hours.
Our Alternative Program’s goal is to help students become successful in a relaxed, non-stressful learning environment where they can work at their own pace. Each students schedule is unique to their individual needs and abilities. We are able to tailor a program to their learning styles and strengths, not just their challenges.
The students attend off campus from Lena High School, operates on the same school calendar. However, our students are required to attend a minimum of 15 hours per week and can create a schedule that meets their unique time and educational demands.
Students are required to achieve the same number of credits as the traditional high school students, and receive the same diploma upon their graduation.
Currently, the Alternative Program offers the following learning opportunities: an on-line program through A+; the PASS packet program; work study; and the option to take elective or core curriculum classes at Lena High School.
I grew up in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, and returned to this area in 2004. After a short time subbing in the District, Administration asked if I would consider helping them establish an Alternative Charter School. I did, and the rest is history. After ten years here, I retired my Wisconsin Social Worker license and now currently only maintain a Wisconsin Special Education Teaching license.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am an avid reader. I love birding, jewelry making, needlework arts, cooking and baking, spirituality, travel and life .
One of my current favorite quotes is: “Life is a daring adventure, or nothing.” Helen Keller
I like to think I “Live to Dare, and Dare to Live.”
