I have been with the Lena District for 28 years. Most of this time has been spent as a fifth grade teacher. I love this grade because I can challenge the students at this age. Social Studies is all about U.S. History which I am very fond of. I also get to join the students for their annual trip to Camp U-Nah-Li-Yah.
Things for parents to watch for
I give the students study guides for Science and Social Studies tests so you can study with them.
We have spelling pretests on Wed. and final tests on Friday.
If your child is coming home with lots of homework they may be wasting work time in class.
They are required 5 Accelerated Reader points per quarter and must pass 14 levels of Math Facts.
